Terms of use
These terms cover the Solar Pioneer website and the orders and consultations you arrange with us through it. Using the site, or sending us an order enquiry, means you accept them. The shop itself is at 〒500-8833 岐阜県岐阜市神田町5丁目14-3, in central Gifu City, open Wednesday to Monday and closed on Tuesday.
Solar Pioneer sells pet food, accessories, grooming goods and supplies for dogs, cats, small mammals, birds, freshwater fish and reptiles to customers in Japan.
Copyright
The product descriptions, the Notes articles and the photographs here were prepared for this site unless a credit says otherwise. You can read them, link to them and quote a sentence or two with attribution.
Copying them into another shop's listing, a competitor's catalogue or an advertisement needs our permission. Manufacturers' brand names and pack designs remain the property of their owners.
Accuracy of information
The shop carries around 280 product lines, and stock changes slowly but does change. Prices shown include consumption tax. A price, a pack size or an ingredient list can be updated by a manufacturer before we update the page, so for anything that matters, such as a protein source your animal reacts to, ask us to confirm it against the pack in the shop.
Nutritional values quoted for food, for instance crude protein and crude fat, come from the manufacturer's label. They describe the product, not a promise that it suits your individual animal.
How ordering works
This site does not take payments. You choose an item and contact us, and the order becomes final only when we have confirmed the item, the price, the pickup or delivery method and the delivery cost with you in writing.
Reserved items are held for pickup at the shop for up to seven days. If you have not collected them or got in touch by then, we put them back on the shelf. Payment details are given in the confirmation message.
If something arrives wrong
Delivery is agreed per order before you commit, and the cost depends on weight and destination. A 5 kg bag of aquarium gravel and a 500 g pouch of cat food are not priced alike.
If an item arrives damaged, leaking or different from what we described, contact us within a few days with a photo of the pack and the label. We will replace it or refund it, whichever you prefer. Opened food, live-animal supplies that have been used, and grooming tools you have tried at home are returned only when they are faulty, because they cannot be resold safely.
Consultations and fittings
The paid sessions are the nutritional consultation at 2,200 yen, the aquarium starter guidance at 1,100 yen and the small animal habitat review at 1,100 yen. Grooming supplies fitting is free with a purchase. Prices are confirmed when you book.
The advice we give is general guidance from a former veterinary technician, not a veterinary diagnosis or treatment. If your animal is unwell, see your vet, and follow their instructions where they differ from ours.

Nothing in these terms reduces your rights under Japanese consumer protection law, or our responsibility for harm caused deliberately or through gross negligence.
Using the site
Please use the enquiry form for real questions about real animals. Automated submissions, attempts to probe the site, and messages that are abusive towards the person answering at the counter will be ignored and, where necessary, reported.
The Notes pages on feeding, grooming and setting up a tank are written to help you ask better questions, not to replace a vet. If a page and your vet's advice disagree, follow the vet, and tell us so that we can correct the page.
Updates
We revise these terms from time to time, for instance when we change how delivery works. The current version always sits at this address with its date at the top, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the new version.
Jurisdiction
These terms are governed by Japanese law. If a dispute cannot be settled by talking it through, the Gifu District Court is the court of first instance with jurisdiction.
